A Coach's Heart
Mickey Harris was many things to many people, but if you spoke to him for long you would quickly see that he had an insatiable love for sports of most any kind, and he was the consummate coach. He volunteered for NMB Recreation leagues for years before he was even married with children of his own. During those years Mickey led many teams to victory and was named volunteer of the year for his hours of dedication to football, basketball and baseball.
He so enjoyed mentoring student athletes that he formed a non-profit organization called B.I.G.M.A.A.C., which stood for Believing in God; Mentoring in Academics, Athletics and Community. Mickey’s favorite sport was always basketball. When it came to building a team, Coach Mickey knew the value of teamwork, but he also knew that you could not build a team without building close-knit relationships both on and off the court.
One of his favorite teachings was: It’s the little things that add up to make a big difference. He knew that a well rounded student was a coachable and stronger teammate. He encouraged students to be the best they could be for themselves, their families and their communities.

In honor of his legacy and in his memory we have created a North Myrtle Beach High School scholarship fund:

Your donations will help deserving student athletes with college education expenses. Scholarships will be awarded based on a set of application criteria and coach’s recommendations beginning in the spring of 2020. Thank you for your generous support of a cause that was near and dear to Coach Mickey’s heart.
