Kris is my good friend and fellow nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. For more than twenty years, I have watched her care for patients with extraordinary kindness, compassion, and patience.

She has dedicated her life to helping others, but above everything else, her greatest joy was being Michaela’s mom. Michaela was Kris’s only child, and they shared an incredibly special bond. They weren’t just mother and daughter—they were best friends. Kris was immensely proud of the compassionate, intelligent, and remarkable young woman Michaela had become.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, Michaela’s life was tragically taken in a motorcycle accident in Gorham, New Hampshire. She was only 29 years old. In a single moment, Kris lost the center of her world. No words can truly express the heartbreak she feels.

Michaela had recently earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College. She devoted her life to helping underserved individuals and families, believing that every person deserved compassion. Helping others wasn’t simply her career—it was who she was.

Although nothing can ever fill the unimaginable void left by Michaela’s passing, Kris wants her daughter’s light to continue shining. To honor Michaela’s life, we are working with an attorney to establish The Michaela Waldrop Foundation. The foundation will support underserved individuals and families—the very people Michaela cared so deeply about. Funds raised through this campaign will provide the foundation’s initial endowment. Our hope is that the foundation will continue to grow through future fundraising efforts.

While we cannot take away Kris’s pain, we can stand beside her during this unimaginable time and help ensure Michaela’s legacy lives on.

If you are able, please consider making a donation of any amount. Every gift will help us. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Kris and all who loved Michaela in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.
