The Michael R. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship

Michael Schmidt was a teacher in the Glenwood Community School District in Glenwood, Iowa for over 30 years. He made an impact on his students through his English/writing classes, his guidance in speech competitions, and his direction of theater productions. He was also a mentor, a friend, a minister, and husband to Debbie, father to Eric and Scott, father-in-law to Megan, and grandfather to Maria.

Michael passed away suddenly in June of 2020 at the age of 68. Due to the pandemic, his family and friends were unable to hold a memorial service until August, 2021. To honor his life and his love of teaching, the Michael R. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship fund has been created. All donations will go to a graduating senior at Glenwood Community High School in Spring, 2022. The scholarship will be awarded to a student intending to major in Education, English, Journalism, Theater Arts, or Communications at a college or university.

*All who donate will receive one free 3.5" x 3.5" refrigerator magnet with this humorous quote by Michael: "Before I die, I want to write something so profound that it is printed on a refrigerator magnet." Please click 'Contact' on this page to send me your name and shipping address.
Please allow two weeks for delivery.
Thank you for support and generosity! ❤
