Michael Shanes (1962-2025) was an inspiring example of how to handle a cancer diagnosis. A motorsports logistics professional with a passion for Hot Wheels, Corvettes, and Jensen-Healeys; Michael received his diagnosis in February of 2023. He immediately branded himself with "I'm Not Done" and pushed through with a commitment to self-care built upon three pillars: his care team, his 1974 Jensen-Healey, and Tucker. Tucker is a Budsie—a custom-crafted, handmade plushie that was made to look just like Michael's Bitmoji. Tucker has been central to Michael's self-care as part of his Comfort Therapy care regimen.

Michael and Tucker visited patients of all ages at hospitals to show that mindset means everything - and that having a Budsie can go a long way to bring normalcy and optimism to any diagnosis.
