Help Us Support Our Senior Rescue Dogs – One Muddy Paw at a Time!

We’re Mike and Monique, the humans behind the Mad Trapper Trail Races and the off-grid sanctuary we call home. For over 20 years, we've welcomed runners from all walks of life to the trails of the Mica Run — a wild, sometimes-muddy, joy-filled race through the hills of western Quebec.

But this year’s Mica Run is about more than just the race. It’s about rescue.

When we’re not clearing trails or cheering on runners, we’re caring for our pack of rescue dogs — many of them seniors with special needs. Like Fred, our 16-year-old border collie who’s slowing down a bit (and let’s just say… not always making it to the door in time).

We’ve got dog blankets covering every couch, and our laundry machine is working overtime. We’re going through detergent like it’s Gatorade at the finish line. And while we do it all with love, the hidden costs add up — food, vet bills, medication, cleaning supplies, even new floors we should’ve replaced years ago.

Some people have asked how they can help — even if they’re not racing. So we’ve set up this GoFundMe as a way for our extended Mad Trapper family (and anyone who loves dogs) to support the work we’re doing here.

We’ve heard from Mad Trapper racers, friends, and family who want to support our pack but can’t make it to the race — so we created this GoFundMe as a way to help.
