You’re taking your family out for your mom’s 60th birthday. Dad isn’t in great health and your sister has her medical issues as well. Mom keeps on top of all the finances and keeps the family together like the wonderful woman that she is.
The evening is wonderful, filled with big hugs, smiles and laughter. You get to celebrate this strong woman that has cared for you and the rest of the family for your entire life. She’s your pillar of strength, she’s your best friend.
Now imagine this:
Within 10 minutes of getting home from that amazing evening, you’re on the floor doing CPR for this beautiful woman. You try as hard as you can but she doesn’t make it to the hospital.
Imagine the trauma of going through all of this and now having the stress of the funeral costs. The family cannot afford to pay the costs of the funeral. Please, please, please do not let them endure these extra hardships when they are already dealing with so much.
Valerie Bessie Mercer was “loud, proud and funny as hell .. always the life of the party”. Valerie never asked for help her entire life. She worked tirelessly at 3 jobs and nights just to make sure she could spend her days taking care of her daughters and sick husband. She made sure that every holiday was the best for them to the point that her daughters didn’t know how tight money always was.
Valerie leaves behind her loving husband, David, her two beautiful daughters Ashley and Jennifer.
