My name is Dennis Renard, Executive Producer of the workshop production of The Menacer.
Welcome to the journey of a lifetime and a story that's been years in the making. I'm inviting you to join me in bringing a new, daring play to life—a piece that’s more than just theater; it’s a feast for the senses and a testament to the power of storytelling and the artistry that drives it.
From the very beginning, I’ve been on a path led by a singular purpose: to tell stories that resonate, that provoke, and that connect us to the extraordinary. Over the years, that path has been shaped by dedication, love, and an enduring gratitude. Through the chaos of an ever-changing world, the gifts and calling I hold close have been a constant, propelling me to incredible experiences, inspiring encounters, and, above all, the chance to create art that leaves a lasting impact on those who share it with me.
This production marks the next chapter in that journey.
It all began in the unlikely, breathtaking town of Valdez, Alaska, where I met Heidi Franke, the visionary playwright behind this story. From our first year at the Valdez Theater Conference, we found ourselves speaking a shared language—her humor, her sense of darkness, her incredible way with words all mirrored something essential in me. We crafted magic together, each piece building upon the last, revealing the synergy that comes from an unspoken connection.
Now, we’re bringing that magic to you. This play combines our shared vision, voice, and a blossoming artistic partnership, built from the joy and trust that only artists who truly understand each other can create.
