On February 7th, 2026, our lives were forever changed when my brother, Jetson Cruz, became a victim of gun violence. No family is ever prepared for this kind of heartbreak. Jetson was more than a brother, son, father and friend — he was love, laughter, and light in our lives. Just two months ago, he welcomed his beautiful baby girl into the world, and he also leaves behind his 10-year-old son. In an instant, both of his children lost their father — their protector, their guide, and their greatest supporter.

We are trying to raise $10,000 to give Jetson the proper burial he deserves and to help support his precious children during this unimaginable time. His newborn daughter will need diapers, clothes, formula, and all the essentials that come with being a baby. His 10-year-old son now faces growing up without his father’s presence, love, and guidance. While nothing can replace Jetson, we can come together as a community to honor his life and surround his children with the love and support he would have wanted for them.

He worked for a youth-led organization fighting to end youth incarceration + create healing futures for our city. He was an inspiration to others. The world is far less bright without him.
