The Memmer Family

I have known the Memmer family since before I was even born. Mr Memmer worked for my family and grew up with my father. Wendy, Lisa, my brother and I grew up together and we have been through more than probably most other families have. Wendy and family suffered the tragic loss of Dad Memmer 4 years ago and life was never to be the same. Wendy suffered daily about the loss of her father and was never able to truly get over it. I have the words she wrote to her father on the day of his funeral that she asked me to keep so one day, when she was ready, she could reread it. She was never ready. I picked the photo of her and her Dad as the headline because her Dad was her world.

Wendy left our world on 6/2/20 and left behind two beautiful young boys, a husband, a mother, sister and nephew as well as other family and countless friends that have been touched by her and her family. Its not fair and life never seems to be fair but this family, especially her young children, have suffered loss that is beyond words, first their Papa and now their Mom.

Anyone who knew Wendy knew how very close she was to her father and that his passing changed her world, she was never the same. None of us were but she was never able to move on. It will never make sense, it will never be realistic but their family is now faced with the expense of her services and the expense of raising her children. They have been through more than most of us will encounter and they need help. Any amount you can donate will be given to the family to lay Wendy to rest and if any is left over it will be put into an account for her children. She touched many of us in many ways and was a good friend in different roles to several of us and any little bit would help her family. I know for me Wendy was there my whole life and in particular got me through one of my hardest times which was having a preterm child. We all have our stories, and there are several that will make our bellies hurt from laughter. Please focus on those when you think of her, please remain focused on her smile and her happy times. The times when we were young to the times we were adults, there are countless good memories and I personally will never forget any of them.

I want to end this with a poem Wendy wrote for her Dad when he passed. I find just an ounce of solace knowing that she is with her Daddy again.

You held my hand when I was small
You caught me when I fell
You're the hero of my childhood and my later years as well
And every time I think of you my heart still fills of pride
Though I'll always miss you Dad I know you're by my side
In laughter and in sorrow, in sunshine and through rain
I know you are watching over me until we meet again
I love you Daddy
- Written by Wendy for her father

This loss is a very personal one to a lot of us and I thank you for helping this family, which I call my own, in any way you possibly could.

Hug your loved ones and your children as much as you can today. Each and every day I realize just how important that actually is and that at a blink of an eye our worlds can change forever.
