The Meet & Engage 2.6 Charity Challenge
We are Meet & Engage!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our GoFundMe page. Whilst all charities have found the last year incredibly challenging, we know it's been particularly tough for very small charities who've seen many of their usual fundraising activities cancelled. We wanted to help support one such charity and are raising money for Maji Safi Projects - a Bristol-based charity run by husband and wife team, Mike and Linda.
When they visited Kenya on holiday back in 1999, they came across a little wooden hut schooling 40 children in the morning and another 40 children in the afternoon with the nearest official school over an hour's walk away. They came back to the UK and started fundraising to build a school for these children. Since then, they've managed to build two schools with 28 classrooms and toilets in each one, educating over 4,000 children every year up to the age of 16. They also provide school equipment, fund teachers' salaries, and support 60 children who go on to secondary school, college and university.
Maji Safi means 'clean water' and the charity has also dug 12 boreholes and built toilets for the local and often impoverished communities.
In the last four years, the charity has also supported six local village ladies making over 12,000 reusable sanitary towel kits - not only does this help these ladies be self-sufficient but it also means girls no longer have to miss school because of their periods.
£6 buys a mosquito net
£20 allows three girls to have three ST kits lasting them three years
£25 pays for a table and bench for three students in a classroom
£50 pays for a student to attend secondary school or college for a month
£120 pays a teacher's salary for a month
100% of your money will be spent in Kenya.
