My brother, Jay, is facing health issues that will be significate impacting him and his family for an extended period.
Several weeks ago, Jay started developing an ulcer on the bottom of his foot. He has dealt with these in the past and started treating the area. He sought outpatient medical treatment twice for the ulcer. But it continued to worsen. Being a single father, he was unable to take enough time from work to allow the ulcer to fully heal. On 9/24 he made the difficult decision to go to the ER for treatment. He knew the results of this hospital visit were not going to go in his favor, and that life at home would be strongly impacted. He was diagnosed with sepsis and osteomyelitis. He will be having 3 - 4 surgeries in the coming days/weeks. The surgeries are going to result in a significant amount of amputation, the minimum being half of his foot, to as much as a few inches above his ankle. Also with this, Jay recently found out his health may be further complicated due to a possible diagnosis affecting his immune system. Tests are still pending to confirm this.
With the long road of recovery to come, Jay will not be able to return to work. He is a single father who was not prepared to face this financial burden and is now at a loss on how he and his family are going to get by.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise money to help pay for Jay's monthly home expenses (rent, vehicle, utilities, groceries). My goal is to raise enough to get his family through his rehabilitation period, and the holidays.
Those who have known Jay and his family, know that they have not had an easy last 11 years. They are in need of a lot of help to get through this next unfortunate event.
All help is greatly appreciated. If you are not able to donate, sharing this story with others is appreciated as well. We are also looking for additional resources to connect with, as we do not know when Jay will be able to return to any type of work. We are needing more long-term options for support.
