The Meditation Trust needs your help!

Do you want to join me in making a difference?

I'm raising money in aid of THE MEDITATION TRUST and every donation will help.

Welcome to the 2020 fundraising campaign for The Meditation Trust, which was established as a Registered U.K. Charity in 1999 with a mission to make the teaching of Transcendental Meditation (‘TM’) accessible and affordable for everyone.

During these most uncertain times that 2020 is bringing us, it is more important than ever to discover the mental stability, calmness, alertness and clarity that comes with increased energy and a stronger immune system through ‘transcendence’ – the mind settling effortlessly beyond mindfulness into deep peace and silence.

For those who may not know about Transcendental Meditation, it’s a tradition that for thousands of years has been known as the ‘heart of yoga’ which, along with Ayurveda, comprises the world’s most ancient system of natural healthcare and personal development.

The benefits of Transcendental Meditation cover every aspect of life. Millions of people practising TM around the world testify to its wide-ranging benefits, supported by nearly 1,000 scientific research studies spanning 50 years.

Benefits indicated include significant positive effects on: ADHD, addiction, ageing, asthma, autism, anxiety & depression, bereavement, blood pressure, cancer, cholesterol, chronic fatigue, cognitive function, diabetes, eczema, heart health, IBS, insomnia, jet lag, migraine, pain, PMT & menopause, PTSD, stress, stroke, weight and much more.

Because TM is a natural, spontaneous process, the benefits are automatic, starting start right from the very first day, with most people noticing something tangible (and often “amazing”) before the end of the 3 or 4 day instruction course. But the biggest benefits come gradually over time because transcendence awakens Nature’s magnificent, holistic inner healing intelligence.

The reason for our campaign is to fundraise so that we can continue to increase our provision of courses to those most in need. Our course fees are up to 50% lower than other TM courses in the UK, and with a payment structure according to income and the offer of bursaries and sponsorship programmes for those in financial difficulty we never turn anyone away due to inability to pay.

Dr Gemma Beckley, lead teacher of the MeditationTrust, has developed a strong passion for helping those who are struggling with PTSD and addiction, especially where other interventions have not been successful. With her background as an NHS Clinical Psychologist, her experience of teaching TM to those who are suffering, and her knowledge of the TM research evidence base, she is aware how powerful a transformation is possible. Studies conducted over the years have shown significantly higher rates of symptom reduction in PTSD and higher rates of recovery from addiction when practicing Transcendental Meditation. It works naturally alongside and significantly enhances the effect of other treatment programmes.

Gemma is also keen to facilitate the integration of TM into the education system, an environment in which children are feeling the effects of increased stress and pressure. This of course is being added to with the anxieties of the additional challenging and uncertain times we are facing in 2020. The dissolving of stress is so crucial to not only improving exam results, but emotional well being too.  Research in educational settings has found TM practice to significantly improve academic performance and accelerate cognitive development, and improved focus and attention in children. Additionally, children practising TM have shown significantly increased emotional regulation, and improved well-being and behaviour, decreased absenteeism, rule-breaking, and behaviour-related suspensions.
Children practising TM for around 10 minutes twice a day can reduce their anxiety levels and increase inner happiness, improving their flexibility, social abilities and self-esteem. It is also a valuable tool for a child as they mature, preparing them to meet the stresses and challenges of adolescence and adulthood.

Those who follow certain celebrity circles might also have seen that TM has become increasingly popular with the distinguished and acclaimed as they include this into their everyday way of life.

Why do we need to run a campaign to fundraise???

·       As mentioned above, we try to keep our costs low to ensure that everyone has the chance to be able to learn with us. But unfortunately, this puts pressure on the Trust’s finances. But if we put our prices up, it will mean fewer people will have the opportunity to benefit from this amazing technique.

·       Whilst Dr Gemma Beckley is already working with a higher number of people who suffer with things like PTSD and addiction issues, we are noticing that more and more people need help. But our budget is not strong enough to be able to help and offer our services to all those who are in desperate need. The majority of people in recovery programmes have no financial aid at all, and so are unable to learn TM. We want to change that. We want to be able to offer as many as possible the help, assistance and benefit of being able to learn TM, which will in turn give them a higher chance of rehabilitation. Having extra financial support within our trust will give us the opportunity to help others help themselves.

·       Like every charity we have overheads as we need a small number of staff to help run the trust and keep things up to date. We keep this to an absolute minimum to ensure that as much money as possible can go to where it is needed.

Our trust, although small has taught over 14,000 people so far. The founder of the Meditation trust Colin Beckley was taught TM himself almost 40 years ago. Due to his love and dedication he has given a large part of his life to helping others learn this technique.

Life is changing, our world is changing. However, one thing never changes – the deep, unchanging silence inside each one of us, and the TM technique that gives us all access to our wealth within and stability in the turbulence.

We want to encourage more and more people to learn this beautiful technique. We want to help those who are suffering and need our help. To do this we need to increase our funds hence our fundraising campaign.

We know that living in 2020 means we are all living in tougher and rougher times but having the ability to learn TM is not just for now, it is for life.

To those who have donated and will donate we gratefully thank you for your donation. Every penny makes a difference to the Trust and those we are able to help.

With appreciation.
