On July 8th, 2025, local resident Scott McTaggart and his wife Carol received unfortunate news that he had advanced lung cancer, after dealing with long-term health concerns and many unknown medical issues.

Scott has played a vital role at the local animal shelter, was ready to retire and enjoy life alongside his wonderful wife Carol, who was the animal rescue thrift store manager for 7 years, and son Andrew who also works at the shelter.

After only a few weeks of Scott’s retirement and several days before Carol’s retirement date, the McTaggart's were hit head-on with the horrible news that Scott’s cancer was aggressive and possibly terminal.

Their medical expenses have mounted in spite of insurance, and they are experiencing financial strain on top of dealing with the stress of treatments. Any help is welcome and will be deeply appreciated.
