My name is Kim and I am a neighbor to this family in Copper Basin, San Tan Valley, AZ. Today, 5/11/23, this family lost everything they have. A fire started while most of the family was asleep and was not able to be put out. They were lucky enough to get the whole family out including the cutest little dog Marshmallow and Luna, a loving little pittie. The family sat and watched while all their possessions, their keepsakes, their clothing, a car and their home completely burn. Devastating doesn't cover it as this family is left with almost nothing. They were able to move one car from the house which is very damaged but drivable. In the home is Great Grandma, Grandma, Her son and his wife and their 3 children. Both Grandmas have medical problems and one is deaf making communication difficult and the family takes care of each other.
We are asking the community to come together and help provide both tangible and financial donations to help them during this tragic time. We are in touch with Red Cross and waiting to hear about temporary housing. All money donated will be used to get the family back on their feet and back together as they will have to temporarily separate.
Needed physical donations:
1. Clothing: All clothing needs have been currently met. When the family is able to find long term or permanent housing we will open this back up as storage is currently an issue.
2. (DONATED) New underwear and socks
3. Basic Hygiene Needs: (ALL DONATED) Shampoo, soap, toothbrushes(donated) and paste(donated), body wash(donated), etc.
4. FOOD!! Part of the family is a
in a hotel and unable to cook. Until a mini fridge is donated any sort of shelf stable food items or items that can be microwaved would be best. Think ramen, ravioli, etc. Only restriction is no seafood.
5. (DONATED!!) Any type of pet rat enclosure that's portable: 2 needed.
6. (DONATED!!) A mini fridge for their hotel room
7. Windshield replacement for the working car: (DONATED) The garage door fell on the car and broke the windshield making it very unsafe to drive.
You can text me directly and I will come collect any donations to give to the family. We do ask that all clothing has been recently washed as they do not have a way to clean them currently. 48O 83four seven32eight
I've lived in San Tan Valley since 2006. I have seen this community come together to do amazing things. Within Copper Basin alone, so many people have reached out with offers to help and it’s nice to see how many people care about their fellow neighbor. Thank you from the family and from myself for ANY donation you are able to give! I will update as more info comes in at the bottom of the text.
Update 1: Red Cross has provided a hotel for part of the family and the Grandmas are staying with a son.
