The Man The Myth The Legend Neil Owens
Donation protected
Hey Legend's
I just wanted to drop an update in here on our current achievements and how you guys have absolutely killed it. We can't thank you enough.
We raised over 11 thousand dollars together
We walked over 200kms together
None of this would have been possible if we didn't have your participation and support so a massive thank you for everyone who has helped out. The pace of which this fund raiser took off speaks volumes on who Neil is and what his health means to all of us.
Huge effort team. A big thank you from Neil as he is super overwhelmed with the out come and couldn't have been more inspired to come out on top and join us back at work shortly
As for the funds raised, they will be directly sent to Neil as this fund raiser wraps up in the next day or two.
The funds will be used to take a little stress off Neil financially until he can return to work or sort out other alternative options if he needs more time off.
Thank you again to each and every single one of you for your incredible generosity and support.
Ben here from Roy Hill MSA, the crew and I are doing a Fundraiser for one of our most valuable team members Neil Owens aka Neilo aka Orgzie aka The Older Twin (By about 10 years)
Neil's story is currently still being written with a lot of information unknown. More questions are being asked each day with fewer answers. But first, let me tell you a little bit about the homie Neil from the workshop. If you already know Neil none of this information will come as a surprise.
Neilo is the man, an absolute workhorse. I mean he might pop three V cans before getting out of bed but the bro is not slowing down. He is great value, a happy dude who always brings his smile your way, no matter who you are. His positive outlook and contagious energy is nothing but a blessing to our crew. Neilo is the type of dude who will never say no, he will be in the middle of two other jobs but somehow be asking you if you need a hand with yours. The man never stops. 5:00 am big smile on his face 6:00 pm still a big smile on his face.... Every single day
Family man, turns out that back in the day our boy Neilo had some great swimmers.
Raising five amazing kids to take on camping trips, beach missions and a lot of sporting events. I told you the man never stops.
So as you can see not having him around for the last couple of swings has been a big loss for us.
We are hoping to get him back to site as soon as possible. But currently, we have no real idea when that might be.
His current situation is a difficult one, he flew out two swings ago with inflammation in both feet. Causing a lot of pain and not being able to walk properly. This lasted a few weeks and he was on the mend but then got hit with another setback of inflammation in his face, resulting in some teeth having to be removed. The main issue at the moment is fatigue, with not being able to last more than a few hours awake and having to take multiple naps throughout the day.
If you know Neil you know that is not the norm for him and can only imagine how frustrating this would become.
Normally the man struggles to sit still for more than 5 minutes.
With a lot of doctor visits, days spent chasing information and asking for advice. Unfortunately, Neil has little to no answers to what's causing these outbreaks and fatigue. Hopefully this changes soon and he gets some good news.
In the meantime while Neilo can't return to work and is sorting out his income protection extra.
He has us, he has our care and he has our support. That lucky prick, damn we are good to him.
In all honestly if it was any of us in his position and he was in ours, Neil would be the first person the raise his hand and ask how to help. Neil is the type of person who spends a lot of energy making sure the people around him are having their best day possible, always giving off his positive outlook and perpective.
So the plan....
Our plan is to walk 100km for the old-timer. He can't walk 100km for himself right now so we are going to do it for him. Together, as a team. We will be meeting down at the front boom gates at Roy Hill at 2:30 pm Wednesday 26th April
From there we are heading out for a casual stroll to the top of Radio Hill about 2.7km, some mean yarns, few laughs, a couple of happy snaps and sending our boy some good vibes ( obviously smash a V at the top )
If you have never been before, make sure you don't miss this one it's an awesome walk with some epic views from the top. If you have been before you have zero excuses you're coming. If you don't know who Neil is, just know he would do it for you, so you also have to come too.
Please help us get the word out, and pass the message on.
To walk 100km is only 18 people to Radio Hill and back. So let's blow the numbers right up and hope for the best.
Every walker matters so please bring ya homies
As for donations our target is 3k, Our goal is to help take a little stress off Neilo's hands and let him focus more on getting himself better rather than how is he going to feed his family. No matter what the number is, it will not go unnoticed and will be deeply appreciated by Neil, his family and everyone else involved.
We all know Neil is super keen to get back to work as soon as possible and top that bank account. We know he will. We just don't know when. So for now, let's pass it forward together.
Thank you legends so much for taking the time to read this, We are thankful to have you onboard.
See you Wednesday
