It is with a heavy heart, I announce that a pillar of our community is in a coma fighting for his life and in need of immediate financial support. Coach Mike Shivers has voluntarily dedicated 20 years and thousands of hours to molding the youth of the Hilliard Community.
His leadership and coaching career started with Hilliard Optimist, and continued with coaching at Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington, and most recently with the creation of the Hilliard Blue Tigers Sports Association and maintaining the role of Youth Sports Director at the Hilliard Ray Patch YMCA.
Through a progressive and inclusive approach, Coach Mike created an atmosphere of support and created unimaginable opportunities that extended beyond the playing field. Many of his players have gone on to play not only high school football, but continued into even college. They will tell you about the lasting memories and values they obtained that have carried them throughout their lives.
He has unselfishly paid it forward to the Hilliard community through his time, money, and efforts.
His family is facing insermountable challenges, and it's time to rally and support his loved ones the way that Coach Mike has supported us and our children for 20 years!
