Our Man Cave friend, Rick "Tik-Tok-Tek" Klein has been bringing his dear bird, TAKI, to shows at the Man Cave going back to our Bordentown Years. TAKI was always perched on Rick's Shoulder. He knew his name. Once Taki remembered you, he would kindly jump off Rick's Shoulder and onto your finger. My wife Mary would sing to TAKI and he would literally lay down in her palm sideways and let her pet him while singing to him. Even the musicians performing got into the act. Jill Sobule would add Taki's names into her songs when she performed here on April 2.
TAKI passed on September 11. Rick and his son Kieran (aka BIRD) were devastated by TAKI's passing. Around Twenty Years with a TAKI on your shoulder and everywhere Rick went TAKI was there.
We loved TAKI. There are many photos of Taki as seen by the concert goers. There's one from a Willie Nile show; there's one from the Dan Bern concert. On and on the photos were posted to The Man Cave Facebook upon his passing.
Birds like TAKI are not a dime a dozen. I understand it can run into several thousands of dollars. We'd like to help Rick find his new TAKI. This Go-Fund-Me donation will go 100% directly for the purchase of a new Man Cave Mascot.
If you were a fan of TAKI at the shows or you love birds or indeed just want to help us raise a little money - we'd appreciate this. It's my 69th birthday and my 69th birthday wish for 2025.
All Hail TAKI !
