Hi I ‘m Leanne I have set up this Go Fund me up on behalf of my best friend Cheryl Fox.

In June 2024 my friend Cheryl lost her youngest son Mackenzie Ball who was just 20 years of age in the most horrific way.

Mackenzie went out for a day to Rother Valley with 4 friends, the sun was shining and he had just bought himself a new car, so wanted to take the car out for a run with his friends, he spent the morning trying to insure himself to drive his new car which he had saved up for himself through hard work, Mackenzie was unable to get insurance that morning so then decided along with his best friend to insure his friend for the day so that his friend could drive the car, which meant he could still go out in his new car.

Mackenzie and his friends said goodbye to his mum and went off to Rother Valley for a nice day out in the sunshine.

What happened after this has devastated Mackenzie’s family, his Mum Cheryl is heartbroken and life has been ruined with his loss, as her friend I can honestly say that she just isn’t the person she was because part of her died that day too.

When Mackenzie & his friends decided to leave Rother Valley Mackenzie in the front passenger seat and his best friend driving with 3 others in the back travelled home, they were pursued by another car of males and chased and repeatedly deliberately rammed until Mackenzies car was rammed off the road into a lamppost and then flipped landing upside down in someone’s garden.

It is believed that Mackenzie was killed instantly due to hitting the lamppost.

All of Mackenzies friends survived the horrific incident with minor injuries and the perpetrators all fled the scene on foot and it is believed that they were picked up elsewhere.

Cheryl received a call that day informing her that her son had been involved in an accident, so rushed to the scene to be with her son.

On arrival Cheryl then had a wait for what felt like a lifetime behind a police cordon whilst waiting for emergency services to do their work for the police to then tell her that her youngest son had been killed in the incident & everyone else had been taken to hospital to be checked over, but Cheryl was still unable to get to her son because emergency services were working to get Mackenzie freed from the car.

It has been nearly 18 months since Mackenzie was killed and his family have done lots of fundraising & arranged a charity football match in memory of Mackenzie where the proceeds have been donated to a Rotherham families charity with neuro divergent family members with conditions like ADHD & Autism Cheryl has kept herself as busy as possible whilst trying to grieve for her son by making flower arrangements for his grave, There still have been no charges brought to the people that killed her son & she has felt like the family have lost Mackenzie but had no financial support whatsoever and not really had anywhere to turn for help, which has given Cheryl to want to start up a charity in her sons name which will be there to help provide financial support to families in the future going through something similar.

Cheryl wants to start a charity called The Mackenzie Alexander Fund in which she hopes to be able to support bereaved families that have lost a child through a criminal act such as this.

So I am asking for donations to help Cheryl and her family to set up this charity and she is open to any advice as to how to start the process.

Mackenzie was a lovely lad with a lot of life ahead of him, he had dreams of starting his own business after working hard as an apprentice plasterer. Mackenzie had struggled at school due to him having ADHD & ASD but once he had left school wanted to learn a trade and was determined to make something of himself and had an excellent work ethic and was determined to do well.He wasn’t going to let his neurodevelopment conditions to hold him back. He was doing so well at life & making everyone so proud of him, he had struggled with his driving theory in his late teens when learning to drive but stubbornly refused to give in and re took the test over and over again until he passed it. He was interested in learning about mechanics & was always learning himself how to fix things using you tube, he was very much a family lad, loved his family and also had so many friends as he was such a fun loving lad. He also had a girlfriend who ‘s life has been turned upside down through loosing her boyfriend at such a young age, he was loved by so many and made everyone so proud.

Mackenzie & his family did not deserve this. He would help anyone that needed it and his loss is felt so deeply by many.

Please can you help my friend to get some financial support behind her to start up this charity, this venture will really help Cheryl to navigate this new life without Mackenzie and focus on something positive emerging from her heartbreaking loss.
