Hi, my name is Kenia and I am raising money for my family.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, my family was in a terrible car accident. The person who hit my family on the freeway fled the scene and changed the lives of my dad, mom, brother, and cousin forever.
My dad William was airlifted to Riverside community hospital due to his injuries. Because of the accident, my dad now has nerve damage to both legs, causing foot drop, ligament damage to both knees, a right fracture to the fibula and tibia, a dislocated knee, and a fractured rib. My dad will need surgery and several months of therapy and rehabilitation to fix his legs.
My 8-year-old brother Eli sustained nerve damage to the lower extremities of his body (from the chest down). He has a spinal fracture on the back of his neck that requires surgery and a left hip fracture. He is in the ICU at CHOC's Children's Hospital. My brother, like my dad, will need months of physical therapy.
My cousin Alexa (broken arm, dislocated clavicle, damaged pancreas, and internal bleeding), and mom (fractures in her face and leaking liquid from her brain) were also in the accident and will need surgery due to the injuries caused by the accident. All of my family members were sent to different hospitals at the time of the accident, and we are working on getting my dad closer to home.
The funds will go towards covering medical expenses and helping my family since my dad will not be able to work for 6 months up to a year while he is undergoing his rehabilitation. My mom will need to provide care for both my dad and brother as they will be undergoing months of rehabilitation and will not be able to work. My dad is the main provider for our family, and any donation amount will help our family during this time. Below you will also find a link to the article that talks about the accident.
