The Lupton Family

Hello, my name is Gaynor and l have been a friend of the Lupton family for 13 years.

During the past 6 months they have encountered incredible bad luck and l know they would appreciate any help you can give them.

Emily’s father Rick, was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer 6 months ago and his treatment included chemotherapy and radiation.

Mary and Emily helped him for many months, during which Rick needed a feeding tube which has resulted in him losing a lot of weight and becoming frail. Unfortunately he has not been able to work for 6 months.

Rick was finally on the upswing, when, 2 weeks ago, Mary was diagnosed with a very aggressive leukaemia called ALL. She was transferred to Fred Hutch at U.W where she immediately started chemo and underwent numerous blood transfusions.

Now Mary is unable to work and unfortunately her health insurance runs out in August.

Mary is one of the kindest people l know and took charge of everything when l was sick two years ago.

Emily is their only child and has taken on a considerable amount of responsibility caring for both of her parents as well as working full time. Emily will soon take a leave of absence from work to assist in driving Mary back and forth to Seattle for her numerous weekly appointments.

As you can imagine, Mary is still trying to process this shock diagnosis.
