The Lumbi Family Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Khia and I am currently fundraising for a very special GHA family that is very near and dear to my heart, Brady Lumbi's family.
Brady's dad, Christhian was recently diagnosed with a very aggresive Colorectal Cancer. His mother Nayari, recently had a baby and is on maternity leave, and so Chris was the financial provider for their home. And for those of you that do not know Brady, he is a loveable 12 year old with Autism.
As of late February, Chris was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer after experiencing abdominal cramping and trouble with his bowels. On March 3rd, he underwent a diverted colostomy to alleviate his colon which was becoming obstructed due to the tumor. The procedure was supposed to be performed via laparoscope and not take more than 1 hour. However, during the procedure, surgeons noted the tumor was bigger than they anticipated, therefore an open colostomy was performed instead. During this same surgery, a chemo port was implanted in his upper chest which will facilitate chemo related treatments and blood draws. He was in the hospital for 12 days and is currently completing his post op recovery at home.
The next step to Chris’ recovery is beginning aggressive chemotherapy treatment. The goal is to reduce the size of the tumor to then be able to remove it. Unfortunately, he is unable to continue working as he will need to focus on making his appointments and giving his body the time it needs to heal after each treatment. Though we anticipate his journey will have many ups and downs, he will not be alone. We know that he will get through this chapter with the support of his friends and family.
At this time, we are humbly asking for your financial support. His wife, Nayari, is currently on parental leave for her 1-year-old son, Toby, and is now the main caretaker for Chris as well. Although Chris is fortunate to have medical insurance, there are limitations to what insurance covers. The donations will be used in the days, weeks, and months ahead to cover medical expenses, copays, prescriptions, transportation, and comfort & care supplies. As many before us facing unexpected medical conditions may understand, the unforeseen out-of-pocket expenses combined with a lack of income can be a financial and emotional burden to even the most prepared families.
Thank you so much to all for your support and love for Chris during this extraordinarily challenging time. Whether you donate, share the page with friends and colleagues, text, or call, Chris will appreciate knowing he is not in this fight alone!
