This family is precious to me and my children...
April 26th- Jared was having issues with his legs and feet going numb so he went to ER. He was rushed to OU Medical and scheduled for an emergency open heart surgery. The Main valve in his heart was detaching and not allowing proper blood flow to his limbs and organs.
April 27th- Surgery lasted over 12 hours. Everything went well. Pulses were found in both legs and kidneys were receiving blood.
The next few days were pretty normal after such and extensive surgery.

May 3rd- All tubes out, responding well breathing on his own.
May 5th- Pockets of fluid building up around his heart. Had to open him back up and reposition chest tubes. Dr said the surgery went well.
May 7th- Still not awake. Not responding to any stimulation. Tests were run and the conclusion was made that Jared had suffered a stroke during surgery. An MRI confirmed brain damage on both sides of his brain.
The next few days were very bleak to say the least. Thoughts of funeral arrangements lingered.
May 11th- While the nurses were changing out the bite guard Jared lifted his head and opened his eyes. He was hooked up to a machine to help remove the gasses out of his body, the Dr.'s believed were keeping him in a sedative state.
May12th- Jared gave a thumbs up to the neurologist and moved his right hand and leg.
May13th- Waking up for longer periods of time. Ventilator down to 40%. Still no movement on the left side.
May 16th- Decision was made to put in a feeding tube and trach. To get the ventilator out of his mouth and to lower chances of getting pneumonia.

May20th- Surgery went well.
May 21- Awake and doing well.
May24th- Moving left fingers and toes.

May 25th- No more Ventilator!
May 29th- He speaks!!
June 2nd- He eats real food!
Jared has been able to talk to both of his older children, something they both were not sure would ever happen again.
God is good!! Jared will soon be moved to a short term rehab facility to help him continue to get stronger and then home!!
He and his wife Teresa have spent over a month in the hospital and there is not a time frame placed on rehab...I can not even begin to tell you the financial burden that has been placed on this family. Jared and Teresa have 4 children all of whom still live in the home. Any contribution you can make to this family will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!!
