My name is Jocelyn, and I am reaching out with a humble request for compassion and support for our dear friend, Lorena Lorenzo, a dedicated NHS staff nurse who has spent half of her life caring for others in a foreign land.
Lorena has always been the pillar of her family, their breadwinner and source of strength. Life, however, has dealt her unimaginable losses—her father passed away from an abdominal aneurysm complicated by cancer, and her younger brother tragically died at just 30 years old from a massive heart attack, leaving behind two children who are now under Lorena’s care.
Now, she faces the most painful trial of all: her beloved mother, her last immediate family member, is gravely ill. She has been in and out of ICU battling sepsis, intubated for breathing difficulties, and has undergone debridement for multiple infected pressure sores. Her mother has endured multiple strokes since her 40s and has long required full-time care. The medical complications and treatments have led to overwhelming hospital expenses, leaving Lorena in crushing debt despite her relentless efforts to provide the best care.
Despite the heavy burdens she carries, Lorena continues to serve as a nurse with compassion and dedication. She has always been the one lifting others up, offering her strength, love, and care without hesitation. Today, it is our turn to lift her.
This is a heartfelt call for unity. As friends, colleagues, and fellow caregivers, let us come together to support Lorena in her time of greatest need. Every contribution—no matter how small—will go a long way in helping cover her mother’s medical bills and ongoing care. Even sharing this message will help amplify our collective efforts to ease her burden.
To my fellow nurses and healthcare heroes: we know too well what it means to carry others through their darkest days. Now, let us carry one of our own. Lorena has given so much of herself to others—let us now surround her with the same love and compassion she has so selflessly shared.
