The loss of Jason and Carissa Ashley

On Friday, 10/01, Jason set out on a Daddy-Daughter trip with Carissa and Aubrey from Tennessee. They got to enjoy Philadelphia on Saturday and NYC from Sunday to Tuesday. Wednesday they began their journey back to Tennessee. Early Thursday, 10/07, they hydroplaned and got into a very bad car accident.

Our family is very blessed that Aubrey was fortunate enough to walk away with minor injuries. However, Jason died on impact and Carissa suffered a fatal brain injury. 

Aubrey was strong enough to call 9-1-1 and get EMTs to the scene as quickly as possible. They were able to transport Carissa to UT Medical and keep her on a ventilator. Carissa was a proud organ donor — She was able to donate Her heart, both kidneys, both lungs and liver. 

We’re confused, we’re in shock, we’re working through this minute by minute. The outpouring of support has been endless from friends and family alike. We cannot thank you enough.

 

We’ve been asked by a few people where they can contribute to our family, and honestly haven’t known what to tell them. We’ve set this up so those who are compelled to donate can - but surely don’t feel obligated.

 

We’re strong. We’re SO fortunate to have our Aubrey. We’ll get through this as a family. But we want to acknowledge and thank every single person who has reached out to us — Thank You, We Love You.
