It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Carson Ray Ramey on November 20. Jackie and Josh, first time parents, will be burying their sweet baby boy this week, something no parent should ever have to endure.
Carson was born 5 weeks early on August 10, 2020. He had been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic right heart and pulmonary atresia at his 21 week ultrasound. The plan was to schedule 3 surgeries in his first 2 years of life to fix it (first week, 6 months, 2 years). He underwent the first surgery at Mott’s Children’s Hospital at 7 days old. Unfortunately, he suffered several complications throughout his NICU hospital course. In his 3 months, he had 3 open heart surgeries, 3 times on ECMO (life support), and numerous other procedures. He proved himself to be an incredibly strong fighter throughout his time here on Earth. Sadly, his little body had endured too much and he passed away in the arms of his mother on November 20.
There are no words to express the pain and devastation our family has experienced losing baby Carson. This sweet eyed little boy stole the hearts of so many even when most never had the chance to meet him.
I created this fundraiser for my sister and brother-in-law to help ease any financial concerns they may have as they mourn the loss of their son. The last thing they should have to worry about are the impending expenses associated with a lengthy NICU stay, loss of wages and planning of a funeral and memorial service.
