698km, 1 week, 1 unfit man nearing 40, 1 old bike and 1 legendary man to dedicate it to!
This October, I will be riding the entirety of the National Cycle Network Route 4 from Greenwich in London, all across the width of the UK to Fishguard in West Wales. A total distance of 698km across 1 week all in memory of a dear friend, Gareth Everett, and to raise well needed funds for the Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight, the place where he spent the last weeks of his life.
Gareth passed away from cancer is June 2025 and was a dear friend of mine since childhood. In the run up to my 40th birthday, I wanted to complete a physical challenge and as someone who is definitely NOT a cyclist, this seemed like the ideal option!
Some more information about the route is here: https://www.walkwheelcycletrust.org.uk/find-a-route-on-the-national-cycle-network/route-4/
The 7 legs I will be completing are listed here:
