The Long Walk of Freedom For Sudan

The Long Walk of Freedom for Sudan is a humanitarian fundraising initiative dedicated to supporting Sudanese children displaced by the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis. Millions of Sudanese families have been forced to flee their homes, with thousands of children now living in refugee camps in Chad, where access to education remains extremely limited.

All funds raised through this campaign will be used to construct a primary school in a Sudanese refugee camp in Chad. The project will focus on creating a safe, inclusive learning environment that enables children to regain a sense of dignity and hope for the future.

This fundraising effort is not only about responding to immediate humanitarian needs; it is an investment in the next generation of Sudanese leaders. By supporting this cause, donors are directly contributing to protection, education, and the restoration of stolen childhoods.

Every contribution—no matter the size—helps turn solidarity into lasting impact.

Fundraising Purpose, Transparency, and Use of Funds

My name is Giel Malual. I am a refugee rights and human rights advocate, public speaker, and survivor of displacement. I am leading this fundraising initiative independently and not on behalf of any registered charity organization.

I am originally from South Sudan and currently based in the United Kingdom.

This fundraiser is dedicated to Sudanese children displaced by the ongoing conflict and now living in refugee camps in Chad. I am not raising funds for myself or for family members. The beneficiaries are vulnerable children who currently lack access to safe and basic education.

As a former displaced child myself, I know that education in crisis settings is not a luxury—it is protection, dignity, and hope for the future. This campaign seeks to address that urgent need by funding the construction of a primary school within a refugee camp in Chad, enabling children to learn in a safe and stable environment.

Funds raised through this campaign will be held in my personal fundraising account and disbursed in stages to trusted local implementers, such as camp education committees, community leaders, or vetted local contractors who are directly involved in school construction and educational infrastructure. All transfers will be made using secure and regulated financial channels, and records will be maintained for accountability.

All funds will be used exclusively for education-related purposes. No funds will be used for personal income, political activities, or unrelated expenses. Donors will receive regular public updates, including progress reports and visual documentation where available.

Estimated Use of Funds

Classroom construction materials (walls, roofing, flooring): 40%

School furniture (desks, chairs, teacher tables): 20%

Learning materials (books, stationery, teaching aids): 15%

Local labour and skilled workmanship: 15%

Sanitation facilities (latrines, handwashing stations): 10%

Total: 100% dedicated to education infrastructure

I understand and accept full responsibility for ensuring that all funds raised are used exactly as described above. If circumstances change and the funds cannot be used as stated, donors will be informed promptly and funds will be redirected transparently or refunded in accordance with platform policies.

This is a grassroots humanitarian initiative rooted in lived experience, transparency, and solidarity with Sudanese children whose homes and futures have been disrupted by conflict.
