Faces of the changing planet - stories of courage

Donation protected
Hi, thank you for reading my story. I’m Chris and I am a professional documentary and portrait photographer, based in the south of England. I am passionate about telling real stories through photography - to raise awareness and give a voice to the voiceless.

I’ll be traveling to India and Bangladesh to document the human cost of climate change—specifically, how some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities are living on the frontlines of this global crisis.

In the chaos of big headlines and political debates, the people most affected are often the most forgotten. My goal is simple: to show their faces, tell their stories, and honour their courage.

In Bangladesh, rising seas and constant flooding have already begun to displace families, destroy crops, and reshape everyday life in heartbreaking ways. In parts of India, similar climate pressures are forcing rural communities into unimaginable hardship. And yet, amid the struggle, I’ve heard stories of extraordinary strength—of neighbours banding together, of resilience and hope where you’d least expect it.

Through photography, I want to bring these stories to light. This project—“Faces of the Changing Climate: Stories of Courage”—will become a published photo book, a gallery of images shared with the national press, and a visual reminder that climate change isn’t just a concept. It’s people. It’s families. It’s right now.

To make this vision a reality, I’m asking for your help. The costs of international travel, equipment, and on-the-ground logistics are significant, and your support would go directly toward giving these untold stories a global stage.

If you feel moved to be part of this work and donate any amount, thank you!! Every bit of support helps make this possible.

Thank you so much for believing in the power of storytelling.
Chris ❤️

UPDATE:
As I prepare for my upcoming trip to India and Bangladesh, it feels more important than ever to tell the stories of so many forgotten and now displaced people, due to increasingly urgent climate issues. I’ve been keeping a close eye on the latest news and developments in the region, as the monsoon season approaches, and climate-induced migration is becoming a significant concern in both India and Bangladesh.

Coastal areas, such as the Sundarbans and the Ganges–Brahmaputra Delta, face threats from rising sea levels, cyclones, and floods, forcing millions to relocate. This displacement leads to rural–urban transitions and cross-border movements, exacerbating urban challenges and socioeconomic vulnerabilities.

In April 2025, South Asia experienced an early and intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring up to 46.4°C in Barmer, Rajasthan, and over 40°C in New Delhi. The heatwave, which began in early April, was up to 4°C hotter than similar events in the pre-1987 period and has been largely attributed to human-induced climate change. The extreme heat has led to power outages, health crises, and significant agricultural disruptions in both India and Pakistan.
