These eight (8) Akitas were confiscated by Animal Control following an investigation that originated with multiple calls by neighbors. These three adult Akitas were taken in for their safety, and the legal process had to play out before they could be taken into rescue.

Zubao, is a male unaltered Akita that is estimated to be between 6-7 years old.

Zori, (black and white) is an unaltered female Akita who had recently had several purebred Akita puppies and is 3-4 years old.

ZZ, is an unaltered female Akita who had also recently given birth to several purebred Akita puppie and is 3-4 years old.

We believe the Sire to these puppies is Zubao.

Zori was unable and/or unwilling to care for her puppies in the shelter, so shelter staff was able to integrate her puppies with ZZ's. ZZ, all white, accepted Zori's pups and has been caring for them - along with her own - since they arrived.

Through our partnership with the shelter staff, we committed to taking all of these Akitas in. This will put a tremendous strain on us. All of these dogs are unaltered, and will need vetting for vaccinations etc. Then, of course, is space. Kennels were purchased, and preparations were made to properly and responsibly handle this number of dogs coming in at once.
