Green Corridor for the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood
Donation protected
The 4th Ward Green Team is raising funds to plant and grow a Green Corridor in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood.
Green corridors are rows of native trees that create pathways of shade and help keep cities cooler. They include wildflowers, too.
By the year 2050, St. Louis will have about 50 days each year over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Growing trees is a sustainable way to keep our cities shaded and cooler.
The goal of the Green Corridor Project in Lindenwood Park is to plant between 20-40 native trees and 3-5 wildflower beds on a few city blocks in the neighborhood (6400-6200 blocks of Fyler). These trees will be planted in the yards of homeowners, as well as in the grassy strip next to the street. The wildflowers will be planted in yards.
Some of the partners on this project include: the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood Association, the St. Louis City Forestry Dept., and Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, as well as the many enthusiastic supporters living in the neighborhood.
$30 buys a tree from Forest ReLeaf.
$4-5 buys a wildflower
We are estimating to spend about $500-$600 on trees and $300-$400 on wildflowers. Trees planted in the grassy strip next to the street are free.
Thank you for any support!
best,
