The Liliana de Boer Support Fund

Hello everyone, my name is Holly and I’m here to help the de Boer family as their world has recently been turned upside down.
Meet Liliana: a bright, spirited 6-year-old girl whose life took an unexpected turn on November 9th when a sudden seizure led to a hospitalization that has now extended into its eighth week. What initially seemed like a standard case of Autoimmune Encephalitis event has been diagnosed as an A-typical battle against Para-Infectious Encephalitis, which attacked her young brain on the right hemisphere, leaving her with immobility of her left side.
Her journey has been marked by challenges—massive brain swelling, loss of control on her left side, and the daunting task of relearning basic movements: how to sit, walk, eat, move her arms, and even smile. But Liliana's determination and progress have been remarkable. Despite the hurdles, she's shown unwavering strength and a resilient spirit.
As Liliana works towards discharge from the hospital, her goal is to be able to walk with the support of a cane or walker (or Mom & Dad), but will need a wheelchair for outings until she is fully able to walk on her own again. She is working hard on regaining movement to her left arm. Liliana is also working on eating full meals again, so they can remove her feeding tube before going home.
Throughout her stay, Liliana's resilience and playful spirit have made a lasting impact on the hospital staff. The nurses adore her playfulness, often engaging in her favorite activities and sharing moments of joy amidst these challenging times. Liliana's love for Taylor Swift's music has been a source of comfort during difficult tasks and relaxation. She's a true 'Swifty,' and the nurses have even crafted bracelets for her, knowing how much her favorite artist means to her.
The support of family and friends has been invaluable and overwhelmingly welcomed. Liliana's parents have been by her side day and night, navigating the complexities of hospital life while balancing their responsibilities and caring for her younger brother, who's unable to visit due to hospital restrictions during flu season.
Liliana misses the comforts of home, her brother, her friends, and school. Her recovery journey stretches far beyond her hospital stay. Even upon discharge, extensive therapy and rehabilitation lies ahead.
Donations will aid in covering medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and equipment, and the ongoing support needed for her journey back to health.
Join us in rallying behind Liliana, a smart, funny, and determined girl whose resilience shines through even in her darkest moments.
