The Life of Ryan

Hi, my name is Sharon Clarke and l'm trying to get justice for my son Ryan Addison who is nearly 34. In early 2000 he became depressed, and l called Mental Health services to help my son. He voluntarily went into psychiatric services in 2006, but he remained there so long, and as the weeks turned into months, he recieved a diagnosis of schizophrenia in 2006 and was a patient at various psychiatric institutions. A Doctor told me that he had to be transfered to a forensic psychiatric hospital as he had challenging behaviour. My son was housed with sometimes violent offenders when Ryan's only crime was to be poorly. At one placement he had nearly all his teeth removed due to the anti-psychotic medication, and at his last placement 4 more were removed, in total Ryan had 18 extractions. Ryan was secluded often and at one time he was secluded for 4.5 months, and l couldn't visit him or even skype my son, and shortly after this he recieved a formal diagnosis of autism. This was in 2018.

In his last placement he was treated terribly, he was placed on doses of depo (which is a very nasty drug) and he was physically and mentally abused, all of his confidence was cruelly taken away from him. Also at his last placement he was restrained by 9 members of staff resulting in a broken arm which the placement left untreated for 5 days. He was in segregation for 5 years and slept on a mattress on the floor, he was also in trouble if he stepped over a line, and was instantly secluded if he did. None of this l knew about, and thought he was being looked after. I was also a victim, as the hospital mixed my name with someone else, and l was called some terrible names in a gatekeeping assessment that was done in 2012. In 2018 a doctor from his last placement called me a shocking name., and l have copies of nearly everything. I have had my phone blocked, been accused of taking recording equipment in, all lies, and they have tried to mentally break me leading me to being prescribed antidepressants.

Ryan is now in the community, l had help from a peer in the house of lords and Ryan was the main story on SKY news. Now my son has been in his own home for 18 months, l need to get justice for Ryan, as psychiatric hospitals cannot get away with this treatment. Ryan also needs a second hand vehicle so that his carers and him can go for drives. Please help me to raise 5,000 so that l can help my son get the justice he deserves, and also to buy Ryan a better car. A car is important to Ryan as he's been incarcerated for 16 years and loves being taken for drives. It's also important to me that he and l get justice.
