As a small community with close ties, the real ties that bind us are the incredible people of our Johns Island and Seabrook Island family.

David Hernandez Silva was one of the heart strings of our small island community. On the 14th of June, David, affectionately known as “Chicha” went to sleep and never woke up. Chicha, a 38 year-old husband, father of 2 sons (ages 5 and 12), brother, friend, and tree climber committed to his work leaves those who knew him with a profound sense of loss in his sudden and unexpected passing.

Something Chicha said often at work, with a commitment of care and teamwork, was “You help me and I help you.” Now, in honoring his life, it is our time to help him and the family he leaves behind.

The funds raised here will assist in his funeral and burial expenses and be provided to his wife and sons. Even the most modest of contributions add up and will be helpful to the family. A gift of any amount is greatly appreciated.

For those who did not know Chicha well, he was a man of great charisma. There is a warmth about his personality. David had a great smile and a wonderful sense of humor. He was committed to his work, and the people he worked with and for, and was an excellent provider for his loved ones. An incredibly talented individual, he worked constantly, never complained, and laughed constantly.

He will be greatly missed and it is our hope to honor David with these funds in his memory. It is such an enormous burden on the family to suffer the loss of a loved one unexpectedly. Alleviating part of the financial burden that compounds this loss is our hope.

These fundraising efforts are organized by David’s brother, Gerardo Hernandez Silva, and by Joseph Brasco (Tree Logic of Charleston) for whom he worked for and with. Chicha will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, 7-9pm

Como pequeña comunidad con lazos estrechos, los verdaderos lazos que nos unen son las increíbles personas de nuestra familia Johns Island y Seabrook Island.

David Hernández Silva fue una de las cuerdas del corazón de nuestra pequeña comunidad insular. El 14 de junio, David, cariñosamente conocido como "Chicha", se fue a dormir y nunca se despertó. Chicha, un marido de 38 años, padre de 2 hijos (5 y 12 años), hermano, amigo y trepador de árboles comprometido con su trabajo, deja a aquellos que lo conocieron con una profunda sensación de pérdida en su repentino e inesperado fallecimiento.

Algo que Chicha decía a menudo en el trabajo, con un compromiso de cuidado y trabajo en equipo, fue "Tú me ayudas y yo te ayudo". Ahora, en honor a su vida, es nuestro momento de ayudarle a él y a la familia que deja atrás.

Los fondos recaudados aquí le ayudarán en sus gastos funerarios y de entierro y se proporcionarán a su esposa e hijos. Incluso las contribuciones más modestas se suman y serán útiles para la familia. Un regalo de cualquier cantidad es muy apreciado.

Para aquellos que no conocían bien a Chicha, era un hombre de gran carisma. Hay una calidez en su personalidad. David tenía una gran sonrisa y un maravilloso sentido del humor. Estaba comprometido con su trabajo, y con las personas con las que trabajaba y para las que trabajaba, y era un excelente proveedor para sus seres queridos. Un individuo increíblemente talentoso, trabajó constantemente, nunca se quejó y se rió constantemente.

Se le echará mucho de menos y esperamos honrar a David con estos fondos en su memoria. Es una carga enorme para la familia sufrir la pérdida inesperadamente de un ser querido. Aliviar parte de la carga financiera que agrava esta pérdida es nuestra esperanza.

Estos esfuerzos de recaudación de fondos están organizados por el hermano de David, Gerardo Hernández Silva, y por Joseph Brasco (Tree Logic of Charleston), para quien trabajó para y con él. Se echará mucho de menos a Chicha.
