The Life of Eddie Ray Jimenez
Eddie Ray was admitted into the hospital on his 35th birthday 2/11/19 with acute maxillary sinusitis due to an incredibly aggressive, and fatal fungal infection called Mucormycosis. He was transferred from Sacramento to UCSF for emergency surgery to attempt to remove and stop the progression of the infection into the brain and nervous system. Unfortunately, they were not able to stop the progression into the brain. With all of the strong medications to try to treat the infection, Eddie experienced kidney failure and CVA. We were initially told that we would only have days. But Eddie, true to his nature proved the doctors wrong.
Eddie has been strong, fighting for his life for his family, friends, and most important of all, his 5 year old daughter Coraline. Despite his strength and optimism, Eddie has chosen to discharge home on hospice to spend his remaining life closer to his family.
Currently Eddie is staying at a care facility in Carmichael. He would like to return home to live with his dad Fred Jimenez. This would allow him to spend more time with his family and daughter.
In order for this to be possible, Eddie will require an in home caregiver for up to 4 hours a day to assist with activities of daily living. The price for this in the Sacramento area is $28-32/hr. We are planning to have someone there for 24 hours a week to provide care and company. For us to sustain this for 6 months the total would be around $18, 432. Eddie and his family need our help in raising funds. Every little bit helps. Please help us bring Eddie home and support his family to make these last memories ones we will all cherish.
