The Life Celebration of James Thomas Bryant III
Donation protected
My name is Thomas and my wife’s name is Madison. We are creating this fundraiser for funeral home costs, celebration of life, and loss of income.
James, our son, has passed away. He was a very special boy that I believe was chosen for a very special purpose. For that reason, he was attacked by this world the moment he entered it. James suffered a severe brain injury at birth. After being stuck in the birth canal for way too long, they took him to the OR for a c-section. Once umbilical was cut, he went limp. I was in shock at both how big he was and that something didn’t look right. They crowded him with nurses and doctors and eventually even my wife’s anesthesiologist. All of them working desperately to safe his life. As I sat there with my wife in total shock and disbelief, all I could think of to do is pray, so I did. I prayed and he answered. After thirty minutes, I get a great big thumbs up from the lead nurse. I immediately broke down in tears and couldn’t do anything else but thank god and cry. James ultimately suffered the injury due to lack of O2 to the brain. This severely damaged the part of your brain that controls your motor skills. It made everything extremely difficult for him but he absolutely made the best of it and he was the center of our lives.
We took James to the ER on Thursday, June 19th because he was struggling to breathe. He gets junky often but this time he was working very hard with little success. We find out he has pneumonia. They get him a room in the PICU and they have his breathing and vitals under control. After noticing little activity from James, they decided to do a CT Scan and in the scan was bad news, swelling of the brain. They are still unsure of what exactly caused it. We submitted samples for testing with James’s blood to test genetic mitochondria. James was pronounced brain dead on June 23rd at 12:56am. He has passed over and is no longer suffering. In addition to his absolutely heroic and stoic life, he is going to be donating his organs for other little boys and girls to hopefully prevent other families from living this nightmare. What a hero he has been and will continue to be through the lives of the ones he will save and the research he will help progress.
We just want to thank James for an absolutely amazing and eventful 2 years of his beautiful life. This boy has been the epitome of a fighter. He never once gave up. I still can’t believe he isn’t with us anymore. We knew with all of his complications with breathing amongst other things, if he ever really got sick it would be a fight. We never thought it would come to this. He has been the bright light shining brighter than the sun for so many people. From all of his many family members and loved ones to people that haven’t even met him that just keep up with him because they love him dearly. He was the best thing on this planet earth. Nothing but pure love and joy. We are going to miss him forever and we may never get over that.
We don’t really love the idea of a gofundme. I don’t necessarily look down on it but I have just always felt that I have what I need and we do have a wonderful support system. We just have a unique situation where James was also contributing to our income. He was literally Superman in every way now that I think about it. Even paying bills. Anyways, my wife Madison was James’s caregiver and was making a part time wage (for a full time job and that was before Lilly got here). Also, he would get disability checks monthly based off of our income each prior month. Basically, we have to figure out how to move on in more ways than one. We have had great support in many ways and we appreciate it greatly. Looking into the future, we are going to basically figure out a new life. All we are looking for are small donations that could help us keep up with bills until we can get things figured out. God bless you all and thank you.
