The Baby Liam Perez Fundraiser

Hi, my name is LIAM, I was born at 32 Weeks and two days on August 13,2019. My Mommy, Daddy and siblings were very excited to meet me.  I was extremely excited to meet my family. Everything seemed to be going okay. But my sugar levels dropped at night and the doctor was concerned, and that is when I was admitted to the NICU. The next morning, the doctor saw me and order an Echocardiogram. There was a strange noise in my heart that he didn’t like. Hours later a Cardiologist wanted to meet with my mommy and daddy. That is when the Doctor give them that terrible new that I had a VSD in my heart. A VSD is a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart. We were told by the Cardiologist that the hole usually closes on its own, once I start growing and gaining weight. The Doctor somehow knew that was not going to be the case with me, since the hole was pretty big.

I had to remain in the hospital for a month, doctors wanted me to gain weight before they let me go home with my beautiful family. My sugar levels and oxygen levels were still out of control for a couple of weeks. I had to get a NG tube (feeding tube) because I was not eating enough. I was feeling a little better once I started eating on my own. My sugar levels and oxygen levels were good. I finally got to go home, mommy and daddy were given instructions on the medication that had to be given to me every day. I had to continue to follow-up with the cardiologist every two weeks to make sure my breathing was okay and I was gaining weight. Doctor had talked to my parents about intervention as soon as I turned four months.

We were all hoping and praying that I would not have to go through the open-heart surgery. The cardiologist doesn’t like the I’m breathing and not gaining enough weight. My doctor visits changed from every two weeks to once a week. It really hurts me every time we go to the doctor, as they take out blood to make sure my organs are working fine. I also get a shot once a month to prevent me from getting sick. My mommy noticed I started eating less and less each time, as I was getting really tired right away. I got admitted to the hospital for the second time, to get the NG tube.  This tube will help feed me through my bottle to avoid getting tired. I managed to gain weight with the help of the NG tube. My last visit with the cardiologist didn’t go that great, we were told that 5 cardiologists from San Antonio were looking at Liam’s case. One of the Doctors noticed I had a Fistula in my heart. A Fistula is an abnormal connection or passageway that connects two organs or vessels that do not usually connect. My cardiologist advised my mommy and daddy that she would not be ordering an Echocardiogram on me until we get to San Antonio. Doctors will be running a CT Scan on me and all other type of test to see if there is a fistula in my heart and possibly proceed to have a procedure for that as well. I will be scheduled to have my open-heart surgery in San Antonio on December 13th. We will have to stay in San Antonio two to three weeks to make sure everything went well with my surgery.

I thank GOD for my beautiful family and friends that continue to have me in their prayers.  I am reaching out to everyone as my mommy and daddy will be out of work taking care of me in San Antonio.  I am asking for your support to help them through this hard journey, as the expenses are pretty significant.  Thank you so much for you support!

My parents and I have FAITH in GOD that everything is going to be okay with my surgery.

Please continue to have me in your PRAYERS and thank you once again for your support!
