THE LEO DOCUMENTARY POST PRODUCTION

"The Leo" is a feature length sports documentary capturing the return of Canada’s most unique hockey tournament, The Leo Boivin Showcase, after a five year absence from it’s hometown, Prescott, Ontario. Filmmaker and Prescott local, Mitchell Jansman, sets out on a journey home to discover what makes this tournament so rooted in tradition and find out why it’s survival is so vital for younger generations growing up in Prescott.

Back in March, the production crew for "The Leo" shot nearly 30 Hours of footage during the 2024 Tournament weekend ranging from interviews, game footage, locker room speeches and beautiful B Roll of the St. Lawrence scenery. Mitchell has been distilling the footage down to a cohesive story throughout the summer but filmmaking is a collaborative process and we can’t finish this alone.

That's where all of you come in!

In order to show the world how important events like "The Leo" are, we are seeking financial assistance for our post production to bring it across the finish line.

This process includes:

Editing the footage

Mixing the sound

Adding music

Adjusting the colour.

All this to insure a beautiful final project, so when we bring it to festivals, or pitch it to companies for streaming, Prescott and “The Leo” will look like they got the Hollywood Treatment!

Our minimum goal for Post Production is $10 000. This money would go towards paying professional Editors, Sound Mixers, Colourists, and help pay music rights for the soundtrack.

In our modern ever divisive world, stories about communities coming together for the positive have never been more necessary. Blending this need with the marketability of a sports focused hyper localized documentary will allow audiences around the world to see themselves in “The Leo” and easily be able to make parallels with their own communities.
