The Lego Legacy

My name is Peter Johnson, and for the last 12 years, I have had the privilege of calling Darrell Lego and his brother Daniel my best friends. I have truly considered them family and vice versa  
  In the early morning hours this past  Saturday, May 30th, tragedy struck this amazing family.  Fire broke out at the home of my friends parents, Darrell O. Lego Sr. and his wife, Sandra L. Lego, 

  Awakened by smoke in the homes family room, Mr. Lego, a Navy veteran who served bravely in the Vietnam Nam War, began battling thick smoke and flames in an effort to reach his wife, who was asleep in the back bedroom. Sandra was awakened by the screams of her husband in the hallway outside the bedroom calling for her. Startled awake, she quickly realized she was trapped in the bedroom and the only way out was the window. She kicked out the window and yelled for help. With the help of a brave neighbor who risked her life to assist, Sandra,  her hair burned and singed on top of her head, was able to make it out of the house alive, thanks to the final heroic actions of her beloved husband, Darrell.

   Tragically, however, Mr. Lego  succumbed to the smoke and flames as he was saving the life of his  wife, dying a heroes hero!  When the smoke cleared, all was lost. The precious life of Mr. Lego, sadly, was over way too soon. The house, gone. Everything in it, gone. 

     With no help from insurance to soften the blow, Sandra finds herself in a position of having just lost her husband of over 40years and the proud father of her two sons, my friends, my brothers, Darrell Jr. and Daniel. In addition, she lost all of her belongings. She was left with virtually nothing. 

   Please find it in your heart to give whatever you can to this wonderful family who has lost so much, so tragically. Anythingis truly appreciated and all proceeds will go to help with final expenses and to helpSandra get back on her feet and begin the long road to recovery and some semblance of normalcy.
