On October 23, we lost a Local 433 Ironworker & Crown Town Legend, Thumper Brattain. What can I say about the world’s greatest dad, husband, brother & friend? His son Jake (Homie) that followed his footsteps and became an ironworker. He took him under his wing to teach him everything he knows, even if it meant Jake had to sit through hour long lectures. He was so proud of the man he has become and taught him how to live life to the fullest. Not only was he proud of him for becoming an iron worker, he was thrilled that Rosanna (Brosie) and Jake gave him the greatest gift of becoming a PaPa for the first time. He was so excited to start building go karts, bikes and whatever that baby boy desired. Our dad cared with so much passion whether it was family, friends or even a stranger he met on the side of the road. My dad kept me (May May) on a short leash but he supported me through everything I ever wanted to do. We may not have always seen eye to eye but man he pushed me into the right direction and I’m so grateful that he did. He loved everyone that was brought around especially his T-Dog. He built a special bond with him while sharing all of his crazy childhood memories. He would give you his shirt off of his back with no questions asked. He was Matt’s “best buddy” and stuck by his side through thick and thin through his accident. He made sure Matt was taken care of even if it meant he had to put himself in the hospital. He loved his Matt Matt and saw so much of himself in him. He sacrificed everything to make sure his family and friends were taken care of. He gave my mom a run for her money but only to find out it shaped my mom into the tough woman she is today. She stood by his side no matter what and if he needed her to kick some girls ass, she was right there to do it. She was the love of his life and no one could take that from him. He worked hard at everything he put his hands on. He was a man with a giant personality and don’t you dare tell him what he could and couldn’t do. Even with all the challenges that was thrown at him he always stood taller and faced them with full force. He accepted anyone and everything. They definitely don’t make people like him anymore. There is so much we can all say but there is no way in hell he would want us to hold are heads low. He would tell us “SUCK IT UP before I give you something to cry about, fucker!” He was the king of nicknames and if he ever gave you one just know you meant something to him. He was a long time 25+ year ironworker and loved all of his brothers he worked with. From what I know he used to brag about what my mom would put in his lunches and other times would give someone else some of his food because they had a plain pb&j in their lunch box. He talked a big game and could 100% back it up but down in that big figure of his, he was the biggest softie. He will be missed by many and loved by all. All his friend and family stay tuned for celebration of life updates. At this time we are hoping to achieve our goal of $10,000 to get all of his friends and family together and to help pay for funeral expenses and type of celebration he deserves. Forever and always.
