Hi, I’m Harry.

I’m a filmmaker from Shrewsbury and I’m about to direct the most personal project of my career.

Over the last year, I’ve been developing a short horror film called The Legend of Mara Mae. It’s currently in its 6th draft, and for the first time in a long time… I’m making something purely for myself.

I fell in love with filmmaking in my early teens. I knew this was what I wanted to do. And I’ve been incredibly lucky having built a whole career creating films for amazing clients. But somewhere along the way, I realised something. For the past ten years, I haven’t told a story that was truly mine. And thus Mara Mae was born.

So what is The Legend of Mara Mae? It’s a grounded, tense slasher.

A copycat killer, inspired by the original Mara Mae, resurfaces - determined to finish what was started. Her target? A small-town dental practice. At the centre of it all is Mimi, a receptionist and a mother who finds herself trapped in a nightmare, fighting to survive and get home safely to her son.

This isn’t just about scares. Underneath it all it’s about fear, responsibility and motherhood.

I am part of an incredible group called the Staffordshire Film Collective.

We have made so many projects together and now it’s my turn in the director’s chair.

The script is ready.

The team is ready.

The passion is absolutely there.

But here's the important part, this film is already being self-funded. We’re giving our time. Our gear. Our energy. Because we all believe in it.

But to truly bring Mara Mae to life and to elevate the practical effects, secure the right locations, feed our cast and crew properly, and give this film the production value it deserves... we need your help! This isn’t about making a profit. It’s about making something bold. Something cinematic and something we’re proud to send out into festivals and say - this came from the Midlands. This came from us.
