Help The Lee’s Kick Cancer Right In the N•U•T

For those of you who don’t know this sweet family, these are the Lee’s; Koty (31), Kari (30), and their 19-month-old baby girl, Klair. In June 2025, Kari became ill and began being treated for pneumonia. As time progressed, her symptoms did not subside and became worse, so they sought a second opinion. It was then that a large tumor was found in Kari’s left lung, and a biopsy returned malignant results. On August 7, 2025, Kari was diagnosed with NUT lung carcinoma, a very rare, very aggressive cancer. With no experience dealing with this kind of cancer and very little literature to turn to, a team of medical doctors at St. Luke’s in Boise, Idaho, quickly and carefully developed a treatment plan for Kari. On August 13, 2025, Kari underwent major surgery to have the tumor removed, which involved removing her entire left lung. Although they were able to remove the tumor, her pathology report still showed microscopic malignant remains, meaning she would still be treated with chemotherapy and radiation to hopefully remove what still remained and hopefully prevent the cancer from ever coming back. For the past 25 days, Kari has been recovering from surgery and building up her strength to start receiving chemoradiation. The treatment plan now is chemotherapy every 7 days and radiation every day for the next 6 1/2 weeks starting today, September 8, 2025.

We thought long and hard about creating this page because we all know times are hard on everyone right now, and there has already been a tremendous amount of love and support provided by so many during this difficult road these kids are now traveling. There aren’t enough words to say how grateful we all truly are to you all! The months ahead are going to be hard, and while these kids aren’t ones to ask for much, a little help financially would be very beneficial to them. We would like to be very transparent on this and let everyone know that as far as medical bills go, they are 100% covered. Any monies collected would go towards help with travel back and forth to Boise as they live about an hour away. There is a place that offers housing for them at a cost of $60 per night, which the American Cancer Institute covers for them, but they are not guaranteed housing every night there. On those nights, they would have to find a hotel or drive back and forth between home and Boise every day, depending on how Kari feels. Klair remains at home with the best tag team support system from Kentucky, North Idaho, and Montana looking after her, but we all know with extra company in and out, utilities tend to run a little higher than normal. There is an upcoming trip to Boston, Massachusetts, for Kari and Koty to meet the medical team at Dana Farber, an institute that has treated the most cases of this cancer. It’s mostly the daily cost of living in this new ‘normal’ that these kids are having to adjust to. If you want to donate to help these kids out a little, please feel free to do so. Any monies collected go straight to them. Please remember, though, the one and most important thing we ask of everyone is to pray for this little family! Those prayers mean more than any amount of money now and always! God Bless you all♥️
