I have asked permission to raise some fund for a defibrillator, initially I wanted to help the family with the funeral costs etc from us all, however they are ok, and suggested a defibrillator. heartbreaking and so surreal to even be experiencing what we all with the loss of our Mark. He meant something to every single one of us, absolutely everyone. Sadly due to the emergency services being way over stretched we waited approx 45 mins for the ambulance to arrive - meaning CPR was performed for that long. There wasn’t a Defib as close as we needed and I genuinely believe we need one in every corner of every town right now. I personally know at least 6 people whom have suffered an arrest in the last year alone! Madness to think. This only shows how needed these are. I am hoping we can raise enough for a defib to go outside Rubys, which will be assessable from town quickly also, and if enough has been raised we will also put one outside the Fairfield pub - In marks memory. He would have thought to do the exact same thing - that was marks nature. I know they are approx £1300 ish - if we raise more we will put towards another. Mark you really were apart of all of us.
Rest easy my Friend, OUR Friend.
absolutely blown away with the response, already a £1000 has been raised just over night, so I can already see we will raise more than 1, additionally we will have a memorial bench in the Faifield so we can all go and have a beer with our friend when we need.
Mark Aspey’s celebration of life will be held on 19th October 2pm Vale Crematorium, Fladbury. no black please, then back to the Fairfield Pub.
