Support the Leathers' Family

On April 30th, Jake and Monica Leathers welcomed their secondborn, Juliana Corbella, into the world. A week before her delivery, Monica was told she needed to be seen by a high-risk ultrasound tech due to some complications with her pregnancy. On Friday, April 28th, Monica met with the ultrasound tech and by the grace of God, the original reason she had to be seen had cleared up. However, they noticed that she had low amniotic fluid and was told she was to be induced that afternoon. After two long days of labor, Monica delivered Juliana at 36 weeks.

Minutes after Juliana was born, she was taken to the NICU to be monitored for oxygen as her lungs had not fully developed. The situation quickly escalated as her oxygen levels did not improve, even with the help of a CPAP, and she started showing signs of a severe infection. After one day of being in the NICU at Swedish Hospital with little improvement, the doctors suggested that she be transported to a higher-level NICU that evening. With great heartache, Monica and Jake watched out the window as their 2-day-old Juliana was being sent via helicopter to Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital.

Once she arrived at Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital her vitals were still all over the place. They conducted multiple tests including an echocardiogram and two spinal taps to help narrow down her diagnosis. The results helped the doctors to conclude that it was primarily an infection problem at this point. Juliana remains on oxygen, a breathing tube, antibiotics, and several IVs. Over the past day, the infection and her lungs are showing signs of improvement, however, the doctors are predicting that Juliana will remain in the NICU for the next month as she fully recovers. At this point, Jake and Monica are just looking forward to being able to hold Juliana for the first time.

As you can imagine, Jake and Monica want to spend as much time as they can with Juliana in the NICU while also balancing being present at home with their almost 2-year-old son, Elijah.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help the Leathers' Family. Most important are your prayers; please continue to lift their family in prayer and pray for the complete and rapid healing of Juliana. Additionally, there will be a lot of unexpected expenses. If you are able to contribute anything to help them through this difficult time, it would be sincerely appreciated.

If you'd rather donate directly to Jake and Monica via Venmo, their Venmo account is @Jake-Leathers.

Thank you for all your prayers and support — they are greatly appreciated!
