We are Kevin (Uganda) and Brandon (UK), working hand-in-hand to support rural schools in Uganda through The Learning Bridge Initiative.
Our mission is simple: connect children to brighter futures by making education accessible, safe, and supportive. Starting with Kirabo Children’s Centre in Luweero.
This community school faces enormous challenges:
- During the rainy season, the path to classrooms floods, making it nearly impossible for children to attend lessons.
- Many parents, most of them smallholder farmers, cannot afford even small school fees. Out of 20 candidate students, sometimes only 5 can pay. This makes it difficult for the school to pay teachers.
- Children often study hungry because families cannot afford to send food or contribute to school meals.
- The classrooms lack proper finishing, lighting, and electricity.
- Recently, the school’s pit latrine collapsed, leaving urgent sanitation needs.
Despite these challenges, the school continues to serve children with dedication. Teachers often work unpaid, and through our efforts we’ve supported them build a rainwater tank for the children, but much more is needed. Only together, can we make a bigger impact.
We believe that every contribution matters. Whether it’s £5 or £500, it helps us bridge the gap and give these children a brighter future!
Our Step-by-Step Goals & Targets
- Goal 1: £500 – Rebuild the School Toilet (Sanitation & Safety)
- The school’s pit latrine collapsed and urgently needs rebuilding.
- Goal 2: £1,500 – Classroom Improvements (Furniture, Windows, Plastering)
- The classrooms are unfinished, with poor lighting and no windows. Improving them will make the learning environment safer and more dignified.
- Goal 3: £3,000 – Solar Installation (Light for Learning)
- Currently, children cannot study when it rains or when it gets dark. Solar power will allow lessons to continue regardless of the weather.
Even beyond the big goals, every contribution keeps children learning:
£5 → Provides porridge for one child for 1 week.
£10 → Provides porridge for one child for 2 weeks.
£15 → Provides a child with porridge and lunch for 1 week.
£20 → Helps buy classroom supplies like books and chalk.
£25 → Provides meals for one child for a full month.
£30 → Contributes towards repairing classroom furniture.
£35 → Buys materials (timber, nails, cement) for classroom finishing.
£40 → Provides meals for two children for a month.
£45 → Contributes to the solar installation.
£50 → Supports a teacher’s stipend for one month.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bridge the gap and gives these children a chance at a brighter future.
We will celebrate every milestone and keep updating on the progress at Kirabo Children’s Centre, so you see exactly how your contribution is making a difference.
Together, let’s build The Learning Bridge.
