We’re Luis Schwenk and Zissa Rudolph, two friends starting Radio Arcadia, made by students, for students, at the University of Amsterdam. Our goal is to give young people a space to share their favourite music, have genuine conversations, and thereby make radio together.

Right now, we’re preparing everything for the station’s launch, including applying for studio space, setting up the website and recruiting our team. However, to access funding from the university and the municipality of Amsterdam, we need to officially register Radio Arcadia as a foundation. That means paying notary fees of €1,390.56 (the best quote we have received). Additionally, we would like to purchase a small second-hand mixer and two additional microphones to make broadcasting the show as accessible and fun for as many students as possible.

Once Radio Arcadia is officially registered with the KvK, we will apply for sustainable funding to cover our monthly running costs and keep the station open to all students who want to take part.

We both have experience in creative youth engagement:

Luis founded and organised Sol Festival, a 600-person youth music and arts festival in Frankfurt, and hosted his own show on independent station Radio X. He brings hands-on experience in live broadcasting, sound engineering, and event production.

Zissa co-founded and co-led the Intersectional Student Union in Berlin, building initiatives, workshops, and media projects focused on inclusion and community building. She brings experience in student-led organisation and creating spaces for diverse voices.
