Hi, my name is Melika and here is my story.

By the age of 23, i reached my highest weight, which was close to 500lbs. I was slowly killing myself. It all started with health issues, a tumor at the age of 16 messed with my hormones and I had a weight gain of more than 100lbs, it was downhill from there. Depression, anxiety, more health issues.. I had given up., until a doctor told me I wouldn't reach the age of 30 if I didn't take any action. This was the slap on the face I needed. In 2022, I started a journey without knowing how wild it would get. This involved a lot of ups and down. I got sick, spends days in the hospital, wanted to give up so many time. My weight went down, up, down, up. But I made it, 3 years later, I've finally lost it all, down 220lbs. And I am finally ready for skin removal, which is really needed. But living in Québec, this is not easy, our health system has a 5 years waitlist to be covered, which I cannot wait. I am living daily with pain, skin infection, problem doing daily task like bending, training, wearing clothes. I have to take medication for skin infection daily. This is painful and playing with my life quality. I don't have another option to do it out of pocket, because waiting 5 years is just not an option, since every day is a struggle. But just the first part, which is my stomach is 20,000$. That's without talking about my back, legs, arms. I started raising money, but it is just not enough and it's starting to affect my body very badly, so I have no choice to turn around and ask for help.
