Hi! My name is Dean Papayoanou, and I am the writer, director, and producer of The King in Yellow, a short psychological horror film based on that explores the depths of obsession and the line between it and insanity.

The story follows a young student actress who desires to be great, and is given an opportunity to be by Stan, a well-regarded student director, through an opportunity to be on his film as well as a book of sinister origins. However, once on-set, the limits of her desire are tested through her own obsession and the malicious presence of the book.

This film is something that I have been wanting to make for a long time. First of all, I've always wanted to do a "film set on a film set" because that just sounded fun, and second of all because ever since I discovered the book by Robert W. Chambers, I've felt that this is a character that needs more representation in media. The novel, in its description of the corrupting nature of art as well as how it manifests through insanity, makes it (in my opinion) one of the forefathers of the whole cosmic horror genre. I love this character and want to do it justice, and that's why I need your help.

Any kind of funding is welcome and greatly appreciated. All of it is going to go directly into our budget for a variety of things, including but not limited to: production materials, truck rental (and gas), parking, props, wardrobe, makeup, and making sure our crewmembers have enough food for a 10-hour shoot. Basically, it's going into everything.
