The Kim Fire Recovery Fund
0% complete
$8,570 raised of $4K
100 donations
On the afternoon Thursday, April 6, 2017, a fire began in garage of the Kim residence. Luckily, the family and guests in the house were able to escape, however a substantial amount of damage was caused to the garage and front of the house, as well as the three cars of the residence which were destroyed by the blaze. The single house blaze could be seen from afar including from the local high school where one of the members of the family was competiting in a local high school track and field competition.

The Kim family has already suffered through some difficult times including the sudden loss of their father KC Kim. KC Kim and his wife Susan Kim have shown themselves to be very selfless individuals, as all of their children were adopted or from foster care. The story of the family was told upon the death of their father.
In Memory of KC Kim, a Father to the Fatherless
They also were hit with the recent loss of their grandmother.
In the blaze, a lot of the items of the family were lost or destroyed including most of their footwear, appliances, work related items and their vehicles. They also have a lot of items that need to be replaced including clothes, school related materials. and other furniture that is deemed beyond repair. The family will also face the burden of construction and temporary relocation until the reconstruction is complete.
While the fund has a goal of $2,000, the damages and needs of this family go well beyond that total and while insurance will cover some of the costs, there will be additional costs beyond what will be covered and I hope that you can find it within yourself to assist this family in their time of need.
I, myself, have been graced with the opportunity to experience their selflessness and even in these difficult times, they think of others and have stayed strong as a family together. I have already witnessed the great community that is around them, who have given generously and I hope that we can provide for this family in their time of need as they once again rebuild from another challenge within their lives.
The mother and late father of the family gave so much to give a new life to this family and I hope that you can provide some assistance in allowing them to continue to do so.

If you cannot donate money, vehicles, furninture and clothes could also be items that would be useful in the the short term for the family. They may not need too much in this regard, but a few things here and there may help as they figure out what they need to replace.
Finally, if you know of anyone who is renting a house in the Cerritos area and can house seven people, that would be wonderful as they are looking for a place to rent for a few months.
Thank you again for taking the time to read about this incredible family facing these difficult times.
