When it rains it pours...

Literally that’s what happened. On Wednesday September 17 a normal Florida afternoon storm turned into quick devastation as the roof over Kai’s room started leaking. Within an hour the whole roof collapsed into his room causing devastating damage. Due to the torrential downpour that came on so sudden and in large amounts his room had flooding coming from both directions leaving his room uninhabitable. Unfortunately, due to Kai’s room being a previously added on portion to their home from previous owners, this part of the home is not covered by insurance. Both homeowners and flood insurance policies are useless at this point. We wish it was as easy as moving Kai into his brother’s room to share but because of Kai’s extensive medical needs and having night nursing he needs his own room. So for the time being their dining room has become host to his nurses and medical equipment etc. All of this has come at a ready hard time as Stephanie recently had some serious complications related to her spine that have resulted in a hospital stay and the need for a wheelchair in the home to reduce pressure on her spine. Stephanie has poured her heart out for their children and as a medical foster parent while dedicating her life to making sure their children are healthy and thriving. Her priority has always been making sure Kai has a healthy and safe environment for him to continue to thrive. Right now this environment is hanging in the balance as they are trying to figure out how to completely rebuild Kai’s room and the costs associated with it. I am setting up this go fund me to help raise funds to help lessen the financial burden on them as they rebuild his room. The funds will directly go to the cost of the rebuild and repairs as well as cover time that Brian has to take off work to get this done as soon as possible. Stephanie has always put others first and is the person who will give the shirt off her back. We are hoping their village can come together for them and help them get through this challenge. They can use all the love and support as they navigate through the next couple of weeks.
