In Loving Memory of Philip Grahame Asher [1966 - 2021]
A constant presence in the lives of so many, Phil Asher's sudden passing on the 22nd January 2021, at the age of 55, has left his family, friends and the global dance music community mourning the loss of an unsung hero who has left us too soon.
In lieu of floral tributes, Phil’s family & friends respectfully request that anyone who wishes to honour PHLASH is invited to make a contribution to The Marvin Jupiter Asher fund.
In keeping with Phil’s humble, understated nature, it is only now that we begin to fully appreciate the impact his spirit and music has had upon on us all. The overwhelming outpouring of love and tributes that have emerged following the news of his death suggest that his reach was far greater than any of us ever imagined.
A leading light and true innovator, Phil Asher has had an immense influence on so many; he will be remembered not just as a phenomenal producer and DJ, but as an amazing human being. He was always more than just the music, whether behind the record store counter, on the decks or in the crowd. He epitomised an attitude that made the London underground club scene so much more than just a scene, but a community, a family. Phil was a very special part of this community. His love and generosity brought people together, he was a conduit, a teacher, a mentor and the truest of friends. His generosity and warmth had no bounds. It’s this love and humanity as a person that was above all his most remarkable attribute. Phil loved people, he loved music, he loved animals and he loved life. When you love everything, you give love back and that’s what he did…playing and making music that touched his soul and lifted hearts and spirits.
Phil was incredibly proud of his son Marvin and his music and production under NGC and the Xutians. With this in mind his close friends feel that the best way to honour PHLASH’s memory is through this fund.
Phil will be sorely missed by the entire dance music community around the world. His love and music will light our way and his memory will forever be with us.
